Texoma Medical Center (TMC) is pleased to announce that it has achieved accreditation from Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) as a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery. This accreditation recognizes TMC’s commitment and high standard of delivery of quality patient care and safety. TMC debuted its Center for Robotic Surgery in 2012 when it added its first daVinci Surgical System. Since then, surgeons at TMC have successfully performed hundreds of robot-assisted surgeries, and now utilize two da Vinci Xi® units for general, gynecologic, thoracic and bariatric surgeries.

“Our ability to consistently deliver high-quality care to our patients is evidenced through us earning SRC’s robotic surgery accreditation,” said Matthew Burruss, MD, FACS, General and Bariatric Surgeon, TMC’s Chief of Staff and an SRC Surgeon of Excellence in Robotic Surgery.

“I am so proud of our surgical team and their dedication to making our facility a Center of Excellence," said Ashley Lopez, BSN, RN, CNOR, Director of Perioperative Services. "It was truly a team effort, and our patients benefit from the level of quality care we offer.”

TMC’s Center for Robotic Surgery and its surgeons underwent an extensive assessment and inspection process to ensure they met SRC’s proven standards and requirements. These requirements include surgical volumes, facility equipment, clinical pathways and standardized operating procedures, an emphasis on patient education and continuous quality assessment. Inspectors educate staff in the accredited departments on best practices to help an organization improve its care and services.
