Patient Safety

We construct our activities with your safety at the forefront and encourage you to ask questions until you understand and agree.

Texoma Medical Center encourages each patient to become an active participant in their own healthcare. Read how you can Speak Up and help prevent errors in your care.

Patient rooms at TMC are private, comfortable sanctuaries where you can rest and recover from your illness.

Hospital Bed

For your safety, your hospital bed is placed in the lowest possible position. It is important for you to call for assistance prior to getting out of bed. If you have questions about how to operate the electronic settings on the bed, please ask your nurse.

Nurse Call Button

A button to call for assistance is located on or near your bed. The call button beeps at the nurse’s station where a team member will respond to your call. An emergency pull cord is located in your bathroom.

Room Temperature

All rooms are centrally heated and air-conditioned. If your room is too warm or too cool, please tell your nurse.

Patients are treated to a wide variety of delicious and healthy food options through our At Your Request–Room Service Dining®. Just pick up the phone, dial extension 2000 and order your meal from the menu provided in your room. Within 45 minutes, your order will delivered directly to you. The system lets us know if your doctor has ordered and specific diet restrictions, and we will be happy to help you make an alternative selection. At Your Request–Room Service Dining is available daily from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Visitors who would like to join you for a meal can stop in the café to purchase a Guest Ticket voucher for $6.00. If you are a patient at TMC’s Reba McEntire Center for Rehabilitation, callers may reach you by calling (903) 416-1 plus your room number. At Reba’s Ranch House, callers may reach guests on the direct line number on the phone in each room; in after-hours emergencies from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m., dial 0 for a TMC operator.

Going Home

Download a copy of our handy Discharge Planning Guide now so that you'll be ready to discuss your needs with your discharge planner once you leave the hospital. A copy will also be provided to you during the admission process.

When your physician decides you are ready to go home, he or she will write a discharge order and inform the nursing team. Your physician or nurse will give you complete instructions about your diet, activity level and medications. If you have any questions, please ask. It is vital that you understand what to do and what not to do once you are home.

Please make arrangements with a family member or friend to help you with transportation home.

Be sure to double-check all areas of your room for personal belongings. When you are ready to leave your room, please tell your nurse, who will arrange a wheelchair escort to the hospital entrance. Your family member or friend may want to have the car waiting in the short term parking zone that is reserved at the entrance for patient loading.
