Patient Rooms

Patient Room

Hospital Bed

For your safety, your hospital bed is placed in the lowest possible position. It is important for you to call for assistance prior to getting out of bed. If you have questions about how to operate the electronic settings on the bed, please ask your nurse.

Nurse Call Button

A button to call for assistance is located on or near your bed. The call button beeps at the nurse’s station where a team member will respond to your call. An emergency pull cord is located in your bathroom.

Room Temperature

All rooms are centrally heated and air-conditioned. If your room is too warm or too cool, please tell your nurse.

Meals

Patients are treated to a wide variety of delicious and healthy food options through our At Your Request–Room Service Dining®. Just pick up the phone, dial extension 2000 and order your meal from the menu provided in your room. Within 45 minutes, your order will delivered directly to you.

The system lets us know if your doctor has ordered and specific diet restrictions, and we will be happy to help you make an alternative selection. At Your Request–Room Service Dining is available daily from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Visitors who would like to join you for a meal can stop in the café to purchase a Guest Ticket voucher for $6.00. Then, they can order their a meal with you for delivery to your room. A voucher will be required for tray delivery. Orders may be placed from outside the hospital by calling 903-416-2000.

Housekeeping/Linens

Environmental services will clean your room daily. However, should you need additional cleaning, please alert your nurse. On the average, 2.5 gallons of water are used to clean each pound of hospital laundry. If your bed linens become soiled or if you'd just prefer to have fresh linens, please tell your nurse. Otherwise, we're making your hospital greener by washing your bed linens only when they need it.

Telephones

All rooms (except in the Intensive Care Unit and the TMC Behavioral Health Center) are equipped with telephones at no extra charge. Callers may dial you directly at TMC's main campus by dialing 903-416-4 plus your three digit room number. Direct dial calls bypass the hospital switchboard.

If you are a patient at TMC’s Reba McEntire Center for Rehabilitation, callers may reach you by calling (903) 416-1 plus your room number. At Reba’s Ranch House, callers may reach guests on the direct line number on the phone in each room; in after-hours emergencies from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m., dial 0 for a TMC operator. If you have a hearing impairment, you may request a volume-control telephone or a special telecommunications device (TDD).

Television

TMC provides free television service in all patient rooms on flat-paneled sets.


Security and Safety

Preventing Falls

Lying down for long periods of time can make anyone feel woozy; Always sit up in bed for several minutes before trying to stand. If you feel dizzy or weak, call your nurse for help. Never try to lower or climb over the side rails of your bed. If you need assistance, please call your nurse.

Oxygen Use

Oxygen is extremely combustible. Please notify your nurse before using any electrical appliances you have brought with you. Smoking is not permitted.

Fire Drills

For your protection, TMC facilities conduct regular fire drills. If you hear an alarm sound, please remain in your room. In the event of an emergency, TMC staff will assist you.

Electric Appliances

Healthcare regulations require that we comply with strict rules on grounding electrical appliances. Please help us meet these standards by restricting the use of electrical appliances in your room. You are welcome to use electric shavers, curling irons or blow dryers, however please notify your nurse before using them.


Services and Conveniences

Advance Care Directive (Living Will)

When patients are admitted to the hospital, they are asked if they have an Advance Care Directive or living will. If you do not have one, TMC can provide the information and documents you need. Learn more >

Wi-Fi Hotspots

TMC and the Reba McEntire Center for Rehabilitation offer patients and visitors complimentary wireless access to the Internet. All you need is a wireless device (laptop, tablet, PDA, etc.) to surf the net or check your email. Wireless access is provided free of charge and is available almost everywhere within these two locations.

Mail

TMC patients may receive mail in care of Texoma Medical Center, P.O. Box 890, Denison, TX 75021-0890. You may give stamped, outgoing mail to your nurse or a hospital volunteer. Stamps and writing materials are available in the gift shop.

Newspaper Deliveries

TMC Volunteers provide patients with a local morning newspaper. During the weekday, they are delivered by a member of our Administrative Team. On Sunday, the paper is delivered with the breakfast tray.

ATM

There are two Automated Teller Machines on the first floor of the main campus. One is located by the Emergency Department near the vending machines and the other is near the public restrooms across from the Conference Center and west of the Cafe.

Gift Shop/Flowers

The TMC gift shop, located on the first level near the north entrance, is open:

Monday 9 am - 3 pm
Tuesday 8 am - 4 pm
Wednesday 9 am - 8 pm
Thursday 9 am - 3 pm
Friday 9 am - 3 pm

The gift shop offers gifts and greeting cards, toiletries and sundries, plants, fresh and silk flowers and used books. Hot and cold sandwiches, drinks and snacks are also available. For your convenience the Gift Shop accepts cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and debit cards.

Interpreters

You have the right to communicate regardless of visual, sensory, speech, hearing, language and/or cognitive impairments at no cost to you. Please let the nursing staff know if interpreter services are needed during your stay.

Pastoral Care

TMC chaplains are specially trained to offer guidance and support to patients and visitors of all denominations. To contact a chaplain, call extension 4118, call 0 for the TMC operator, or ask a member of the nursing team. The Chapel is located near the main lobby on the first floor and is open 24 hours a day. You will also find chapels at TMC's Reba McEntire Center for Rehabilitation and the TMC Behavioral Health Center. Learn more about Pastoral Care>


Going Home

Discharge

When your physician decides you are ready to go home, he or she will write a discharge order and inform the nursing team. Your physician or nurse will give you complete instructions about your diet, activity level and medications. If you have any questions, please ask. It is vital that you understand what to do and what not to do once you are home. Please make arrangements with a family member or friend to help you with transportation home. Be sure to double-check all areas of your room for personal belongings. When you are ready to leave your room, please tell your nurse, who will arrange a wheelchair escort to the hospital entrance. Your family member or friend may want to have the car waiting in the short term parking zone that is reserved at the entrance for patient loading.

Social Work Services

Case Managers at TMC can assist you with arrangements you will need once you go home from the hospital. They may also help you access information related to financial arrangements, alternative housing, legal services, support groups and other community resources.

Medical Equipment for Home

Medical equipment such as hospital beds, wheelchairs, walkers, bathroom safety aids, oxygen therapy equipment and other supplies are available through TMC Medical Supply. For more information on rentals or purchases, call (903) 416-5555.
